Sarah Ritter brings to Restore Capital experience working with many different community-based campaigns and organizations as well as an interest and understanding of current ecosystem markets and their role in improving our environment.
In 2009 Ms. Ritter graduated Cum Laude from Occidental College in Los Angeles with honors in Urban and Environmental Policy and a minor in Spanish. At Occidental, Ms Ritter wrote her senior thesis on the Voluntary Carbon Offset Market, which can be found here.
Ms. Ritter played basketball and lacrosse for Occidental and founded Great Strides, an after school sport and nutrition program for girls at a local elementary school to promote self-esteem and healthy lifestyles.
During her time in Los Angeles Ms. Ritter also worked with the Long Beach Alliance for Children with Asthma, THE Impact Project at the University of Southern California, and the Urban and Environmental Policy Institute to research the goods movement and transportation issues as well as organize several local conferences and campaigns.
In 2008 Ms. Ritter worked in Ciudad Sandino, Nicaragua with Foundations for Sustainable Development to institute a recycling and environmental education program at Colegio Dinamarca, an elementary and high school.
Most recently Ms. Ritter served a year term as an Americorps* VISTA at the Parks & People Foundation in Baltimore. At Parks & People, Ms. Ritter coordinated the Community Greening Resource Network, a program to support local community greeners and gardeners. During this time she also became a Baltimore City Master Gardener.
Growing up in Towson, MD Ms. Ritter spent much of her childhood sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. She still enjoys spending time on the water – sailing, surfing, and scuba diving. Sarah also stays active coaching basketball, traveling, and volunteering with local school gardens.
